What people are saying:

“I’m super grateful that this Discord server exists.  It honestly helps so much to know I can log in and be able to see someone working away, the visual cues are equal parts calming and inspiring.  It’s also great to be able to hop into the voice channel and talk to someone when I need to verbally process my thoughts to prevent spinning out.  Looking forward to many more sessions to come!”

“This server has been so helpful for me. I work from home and sometimes I just want to be in the presence of other people who are just there holding space with one another. It helps me remain in the headspace of being productive and focused if I am with others who are doing the same. It encourages me to work longer and get my work done earlier in the week. Also, everyone is so kind and supportive of one another, often sharing ideas, water reminders, and sometimes a cheesy joke. It feels very safe.”

“Since body doubling online I feel a boost of confidence and determination to get my tasks done. It also feels great to be part of a community where everyone is rooting for you! Thanks for this opportunity.”

Maria

“I love this server. It has given me a sense of belonging and it’s just amazing! Very grateful for it”

“Body Doubling is an awesome experience. Seeing the other workers focused on their work, helps to keep me focused on my work. I was looking for an ADHD support group. I got that and more through body doubling.”

Anastasia

The BodyDoubling.com Discord server has genuinely changed my working life. I struggle to stay focused, especially with open-ended tasks and when I’m working from home. Having the company and encouragement of this amazing community helps to keep me on track and feel part of a team, even when I’m by myself. And on days when I still can’t maintain my attention, my friends in this space remain a source of reassurance and compassion that reduces the stress associated with executive dysfunction. I am so grateful that this incredible resource exists!

InWriting

Discord is a platform that initially was developed for video gamers but has grown to become an easy communication tool for many purposes both video game related and not.

It has many useful features including text, voice and video chat. Everyone has unique tastes in how they prefer to work, so let’s make the space that we need. If that doesn’t work a few times please try to shake it off and try again.

Other Video Chat Options

Video chat options for virtual body doubling

There are many options, both paid and unpaid and they all have their ups and downs. If you have any suggestions of chat apps to add here please send me a message using our contact form on the home page.

Skype

Skype is Microsofts offering. Click here for their ‘Meet Now’ product which works in your browser without needing to download anything. It does a conference for up to 24 hours and up to 99 users!

Jitsi

Jitsi is a free option. It hosts up to 50 people and works quite well. You can make up memorable room names to revisit next time you body double. Click here to check it out.

Google Meet

Google Meet is a good option for those with Google accounts (which I believe is almost everyone). It is now free for everyone! Click here to try it out.

Zoom

Zoom is the most popular option as far as video chats go and it offers many features, though if you want to have a chat that lasts longer than 40 minutes you will have to have a paid account.
