I’m new to this server. How do I do this?

The most common channels are body doubling (muted) and free movement. Join wherever there‘s other humans, and go about your body doubling day! You figure out what kind of task you want to do on your own, then choose the best voice channel for it. Voice channels have the little speaker icon next to them. You can either join a session in progress or join a voice chat room and wait for someone else to join you!

What are the different voice channels for?

Explanation of the different Voice Channels

  • Body Doubling (muted) is kind of a default channel for a lot of folks—no talking, and generally most people with cameras on are in front of a computer and not moving around a lot.
  • Open Mics is similar, except that people might not be muted. Some folks appreciate hearing background noise to help keep them present, so this is a place that can have that.
  • Free Movement means that you can feel free to move around without worrying about distracting others or when you don’t mind/won’t be distracted if other people are. It’s for people who might not always be at their desks/in frame on their cameras, so for example cleaning, walking around, etc.
  • Chatty/Active tasks: For cooking/cleaning/Other tasks like this you can either choose chatty or active tasks, depending on whether you’re interested in talking to others while being active/busy doing something or not.
  • 1-on-1, 3 is a crowd: These channels are for people who want to meet up with a body double partner (or two) for a private body double session.
  • Cams-on: This is a channel where using cam is compulsory. If you decide to body double without a cam, be away from the cam or turn the video off for a while, please switch to any other voice channel.
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
