A while ago, my friend and I stumbled on a really simple way to stay on top of our projects – we just messaged each other regularly. We'd share our goals, check in when things got tough, and send proof of completion (like a quick photo) to celebrate small wins. It wasn’t perfect, but honestly, it worked better than anything else I’d tried.
Here’s why I think it clicked so well for our ADHD brains:
- The external system changes everything. Having someone else to hold you accountable makes a huge difference. Those vague, floating ideas suddenly feel more like promises you actually want to keep.
- Timely nudges matter. A reminder at just the right moment can stop something from slipping through the cracks. Without those little pushes, I know I would’ve forgotten half the things I planned.
- Proof of completion builds progress. Sending a quick photo of a finished task felt oddly rewarding. It gave me that extra push to keep going.
I'm curious – has anyone else tried a similar approach for accountability? How did it work for you? I’d love to hear if it helped or if you found a different method that worked better!
